I believe so.
We came here for someone's birthday and it's probably one of the best hot pots I've had recently. The food was great and soup was spicy, perfect combination.
Ordered the Shaun shabu and sukiyaki. Reminded me of meals in Japan.
We wandered into Nabe on a chill and gloomy Monday. There was no wait and we were seated promptly. The wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the kimchi and my husband ordered the sukiyaki. The kimchi broth was a little bland for my taste but the sukiyaki broth was delicious. Overall, our first experience there was good and we'd come back to try the other menu options.
Very good Japanese hot pot. Save some broth in the pot at the end of the meal for a delicious rice/egg porridge that your server makes at the table.
Really good sliced meat for shabu. The prices are pretty up there.
Super loved the quantity of food and the quality that we got.. ~70 for two with all the fixings and drinks. Great service from the friendly waitresses, and the rice porridge to finish off the broth is quite the treat. I think space can become an issue depending on where you sit as some of the tables can be quite small for all the food, but this place is definitely worth a visit or two.
One of the best shabu hot pot places in SF! Not only are the sets extremely balanced, but also it feels very healthy and light. I would not recommend getting the Wagyu upgrade, I think that it’s expensive for what it is, and I think that the normal beef option is good enough. My favorite part is definitely the porridge that they make at the end with your remaining rice and broth.
Awesome experience. Loved the food, staff, design, and environment ! Can’t wait to come back
This was the absolute worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I made a reservation a day ago for two and was told I would get a seat by the window. When I arrived they sat me and my girlfriend in between two parties so tight we couldn’t even sit. When we asked for a new table they told us they could not because they had to provide for a larger party and completely disregarded my reservation. I love this place is food but the customer service was the absolute worst
It was actually asahiru when I went which means morning noon in Japanese. The wagyudon was reminiscent of the wagyudon I had while in Japan last year. I really enjoyed it. The curry was also delicious and by far one of the top curries I've had in SF. Will for sure go back during lunch for more good food!
Will be back again
Really nice Shabu place, but call ahead to make a reservation as it tends to get really busy. Only gripe is there is no all you can eat option!
Great food and the porridge at the end is great and ensures you leave full.
Kimchi and Pork Shabu is my favorite here!
Amazing food! Would definitely go back. Just expect a wait because it's a small place.
Not cheap, but really, really good! It’s a shame that they end up doing the porridge at the end, but it’s probably the best part of the meal. They’ve got a great sake selection and the staff are excellent. It can get a bit crowded and loud, but I guess that adds to the experience?
Fast service, good tasty food, definitely a place to grab some quality shabu shabu with a nice selection of sake to boot
Fantastic shabu: so many veggies, great cuts of meat, and the broth is absolutely delicious!! You have to try the rice porridge at the end of your meal, they'll make it for you at the table using your left over broth.
Unique offering of rice mixed with pot stock at the end of the meal. But soup base taste and variety was just average.
I finally had the opportunity to go to Nabe last week and really enjoyed the food! The hot pot experience is unique and the wait staff is savvy and accommodating to a gluten-free diet. They also have a good sake selection.
Delicious shabu shabu. We had the Wagyu beef with some vegetables, the miso broth was my favorite. Great setup, fantastic service and pricing is very reasonable. Would definitely go back.
Had a great hot pot dinner. At the end, they will add rice to your soup and make a delicious porridge. Yum.
Excellent service and food, the 2 main things I care about at restaurants. The pork gyoza was prepared wonderfully with a crispy bottom and juicy inside. The seafood hot pot came with 2 medium sized salmon steaks, 2 average size prawns, 2 scallops, 6-8 clams, and a ton of veggies. While not a lot of food, it was plenty for 2 people and the quality was excellent. The waiter will make you porridge once you're ready, which I barely ate because I was so full already. I will be coming back here to try the other hot pot dishes they have.
Excellent hot pot, great service. Bit crowded.
Limited soup options due to table configuration - 3 people, wanted 3 different soup flavors but were allowed only 2 because the table only had 1 burner. No other table available. Hot pot entrees were a bit overpriced in my opinion. Qualify of the ingredients were okay but not exceptional justifying the high cost. Even very inexpensive ingredients were $3-$4 per add-on. Staff was friendly.
Great legit shabu shabu in the bay area. It was worth the drive for sure.
If you can manage to get a table this place is amazing! Prices are a little steep for what is basically hot pot. We basically get one plate of meat and veggies and can split between two people. I believe it comes a little under 30. Don't drink all your soup! At the end they mix an egg and rice in the soup and serve it to you. That's probably my favorite and arguably the best tasting part of the meal
The meats were great. Staffs are attentive too. Enjoy our time there.
Really friendly staff and delicious hot pot. Save room for the end where they mix rice and egg with the broth to make a delicious rice porridge!
One of my favorite places in the city for hotpot. Do note that, while they have shabu, they specialize in nabe, which is another type of Japanese hotpot.
Perfect don katsu and curry! I will try Wagyudon next time! This will be listed as my favorite restaurant from now on.
Could not be better!!
Yummy Japanese hot pot restaurant in Inner Sunset. Great staff. Call again for reservations as the restaurant is small and gets really busy Fri, Sat & Sun.
Great quality for good price !
Broths were tasty. My favorite would have to be their sukiyaki and kimchee. Sadly, No porridge for lunch.
One of the most authentic places for Nabe in SF. It's perfect decor for a date but it's best to bring a group of friends since you'll want to try variety. The broth was completely savory and they have the nice final touch once the broth is cooked down - scallions and rice are added to make it into a conger/porridge like soup. Perfect for a chilly night.
Seafood hot pot was tasty, although we added yam noodles and kombucha squash and unfiltered sake. The rice porridge made with the remaining broth was a welcome final filling dish. Love this restaurant.
THE BEST NABE EVER. EVER. EVER.
This is the place you will eat at once, then once more and once again. Before you know it, you will become a regular. Quality of the food is great. Service is spot on. Definitely my go to, when hotpot is in mind.
5 stars for food, 3 stars for service, so 4 in average. Came here twice and the food was generally quite good, both beef and duck came with good quality. Not 5 star was because:1) one restroom for the entire restaurant means you need to wait for it for a long time 2) we were pretty much kicked out last night by the restaurant placed the next table (5 people) in 4 seats right next to us, and they (the next round of customers) kept staring at us so we could give them the seat, while we were waiting to use the restroom. It was not a good experience.
Nothing is more perfect on those cold SF nights than shabu shabu. High quality meats, delicious soul warming soup, decent selection of sake's, great service and a awesome porridge at the end that glues together this culinary experience. Definitely worth a visit if your in the area.
Nabe’s special is to adding rice into your hot pot base at the end (which is like congee style). This is not a new inventory to me since I’ve tried a lot of high quality hotpot in Taiwan and they all have this “congee service.”During my visit, they only show up at our table twice (ordering & making congee). Hotpot itself is not attractive to me either. The size of hot pot is design for one per person (not recommend two ppl share one).No pictures here since nothing special.
Liked the wagyu beef
I come at 9:30 PM and they dont accept anymore customer even though google maps said it closes at 10PM. What a disappointment. Please fix this hassle.
After numerous mediocre experiences with Shabu Shabu in San Francisco, we were excited to finally try Nabe. The steamed glass walls and crowded, vibrant atmosphere indicated that we had made the right decision – it did not disappoint. The service was slow at the beginning though it got better throughout the night. We ordered the Sukiyaki Shabu Shabu with a side of vegetables and fried tofu skins. It came with a raw egg dip, which I’ve never had before, it was delicious! Everything was really fresh and the broth was tasty, wished it would have been spicier. Will definitely try the kimchi and the spicy miso broth next time.A quality sake selection made the meal even more enjoyable. And, the complimentary zosui, rice porridge, made with the leftover, condensed broth, topped with seaweed, was fantastic! Perfect way to end a meal; guaranteed that you will not leave hungry.
The okayu (porridge) at the end is a nice touch. You might be too full by that point, but it makes for a good take-home meal.
This is my wife’s favorite spot in our oldneighborhood. We return to this place all the time.Great food. Wonderful staff.
Memorably good hot pot. Do not understand why it was so empty when we went. I guess people living in SF go to bed early.
One of my favorite places in SF. I lived in Japan for 10+ years and have had my fair share of hot pot. I can confidently say that the hotpot at Nabe is outstanding - consistently high quality ingredients. Very good service. I love that they use the leftover broth to make a rice porridge for you to take home. Good alcohol selection, too. I come here as often as I can.
Amazing. AIP Paleo friendly. Gluten free friendly. Vegan friendly.
